Over the years, the Foundation has remained committed to address the needs of underprivileged communities. With a people-centric approach rooted in compassion, the Foundation provides financial assistance to patients facing economic hardship to enable timely access for appropriate medical treatment. This initiative also aims to alleviate the pressure on the public healthcare system.
In recent years, the Foundation has collaborated with various local healthcare and social welfare organizations to provide a broader range of medical subsidy programs. These initiatives offer more diverse services and cater to the varying needs of the community. Notable recent programs include:
2024
Donation of HK$10 million to support the Transcatheter Cardiovascular Interventions Subsidy Scheme (2024-26) of Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital again. (cumulative contribution of over HK$30 million since 2018)
Since the programme began in 2018, nearly 100 patients have received assistance. Under this scheme, each patient receives a subsidy ranging from HK$180,000 to HK$500,000 based on the patients’ medical needs. This helps lessen the financial burden of the patients, and provides them with access to advanced medical care.
Donation of HK$2 million to support Precious Blood Hospital (Caritas) “Cataract Surgery Subsidy Programme”
The programme provided financial assistance to 400 patients facing economic difficulties and received an overwhelming response, with all 400 slots filled within just six months. By May 7, 2025,
all subsidised patients had successfully completed their surgeries and regained their vision.
HK$2 million in support of CUHK Medical Centre “Urinary Stone Surgery Subsidy Scheme”
This initiative aims to support 200 financially disadvantaged patients in receiving urological stone removal surgery at CUHKMC. Each eligible patient may receive a subsidy of HK$20,000 to alleviate their financial burden. The subsidy is jointly funded, with half provided by the Foundation and the other half contributed by CUHKMC.
Donation of HK$2 million in support of Project Concern Hong Kong “Dental Treatment Subsidy Programme”
This initiative provides free oral health screenings, dental cleanings and treatment services to secondary school students, underprivileged community members and individuals with special dental care needs. 2,800 individuals have been served.
2025
An additional grant of HK$8 million in support of The University of Hong Kong Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine Gastrointestinal and Liver Scan Subsidy Programmes (cumulative contribution of over HK$17 million since 2021)
This initiative provides financial assistance to underprivileged patients, enabling them to receive timely imaging diagnostic at the University’s Department of Diagnostic Radiology or Gleneagles Hospital Hong Kong. It aims to facilitate early diagnosis for prompt treatment, with a cancer pick-up rate around 24%.
Donation of HK$10 million to establish Cancer Patients Support Programme
This programme provides a one-time allowance of HK$50,000 to 200 eligible cancer patients. This financial support is intended to alleviate the burdens faced by beneficiaries, helping to ease hardships and reduce financial pressures.
