The construction of the Zhongren Nursing Home is jointly supported by Li Ka-shing and the People's Government of Jinshan District of Shanghai, and coordinated by the Shanghai Charity Foundation. Officially completed and opened in 2003, the home is located in Fangjing town of the Jinshan District in Shanghai, and comprises two, 3-story North American style buildings housing 400 beds. It incorporates innovative ideas, providing the elderly with a quality environment and outstanding professional services. It aims to provide the poor and needy, especially those who encounter serious hardships, with specialized care and support.

To provide medical, health care, and rehabilitation services for the dependent elderly and terminally ill cancer patients in Shanghai. To provide a role model encouraging other institutions to promote quality care services for the elderly, incorporating similarly innovative concepts.
