>Li Ka Shing Foundation Public Art Program


 

The Li Ka Shing Foundation is committed to presenting works of art in the public realm to expand access and appreciation of contemporary art. Below are three examples:

1) Title: The Living World Series—“Gentlemen”
  Artist: Ju Ming is one of the world’s most revered sculptors. His work moves fluidly between the conventions of traditional sculpture and the Chinese avant-garde, transcending national and cultural boundaries. Ju Ming has widely exhibited at various international venues, including Taipei, Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand, the United Kingdom, and France.
  Exhibition Venue: Displayed on Shantou University campus
  Description:
A group of strangers in business attire come together by chance for a brief moment on a rainy day.
 
 
     

2) Title: The Discus Thrower
  Artist: Sui Jianguo, Professor, The Central Academy of Fine Arts, Sculpture Department, Beijing, China. Sui Jianguo has widely exhibited in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Japan, Taipei, India, Australia, U.S., Singapore, and France.
  Exhibition Venue: Displayed on Shantou University campus
  Description: Discus thrower in a Mao suit.
     
 

3) Title: The Taichi Arch - Gate of Health
  Artist: Ju Ming
  Exhibition Venue: Installed at the University of Cambridge Li Ka Shing Centre
  Description: Ju Ming is the most important Chinese artist of his generation, one who marries profound knowledge of and respect for the traditions of Chinese art with absorption in the grammar of modern art. “The Taichi Arch – Gate of Health” is a large bronze sculpture standing outside the Li Ka Shing Center at the University of Cambridge, symbolizing the flowing energy and balance of the ancient art of Taichi.
