Since its founding more than 10 years ago, the Open University of Hong Kong (OUHK) has provided learning opportunities for tens of thousands of working adults. In July 1999, OUHK put forward plans to establish a learning center on Hong Kong Island to further expand its programs.
The Foundation made a donation toward the purchase of a 3,100-meter
venue as the university's learning center on Hong Kong Island.
Named after Li Ka-shing and located within the School of Professional
and Continuing Education, LiPACE houses 14 classrooms, a lecture
hall, and a computer lab, and can accommodate up to 850 students,
meeting 22 percent of the university's classroom needs. Furthermore,
LiPACE is connected to the main university in Homantin via a state-of-the-art
optical fiber network.
The Open University's School of Professional and Continuing Education provides learning opportunities for personal and professional advancement, offering award-winning and professional programs as well as general and short courses. Over 10,000 students are enrolled every year.
