The Cheung Kong Group has been a keen supporter of the Hong Kong Community Chest since 1979, as it views it as one of the most efficient ways to benefit a wide cross section of society's needy.
Established in 1968, the Community Chest is an independent, non-profit, non-government organization that raises funds for social welfare agencies in Hong Kong. The Chest organizes a variety of fund-raising activities such as Walks For Millions, Dress-Casual Day, and Instant Raffle. All proceeds raised are donated to the Chest's 140 member agencies. Every year, over one million people benefit from services provided by these member agencies.
Mr. Li has been an honorary Vice Patron of the Chest since 1981. The Cheung Kong Group has supported the Chest since 1979, and has been one of the top three donors from 1999 to present. |
