| (Hong Kong, 28 December 2004) Hutchison
Whampoa Limited ("HWL") and Li Ka Shing Foundation, in response to
the terrible loss of life and property from the Asia earthquake disaster,
will in total donate HK$24 million towards the relief of victims
and rebuilding of affected areas.
HWL Chairman Mr Li Ka-shing said he was saddened by the huge suffering
caused by the disaster.
"Compared to the massive destruction caused by this earthquake,
our effort is but a little one. However, we hope it will help ease
some suffering. We also hope that Hong Kong people will express
their concern by contributing in whatever way they could to assist
victims and the repair of damages," Mr Li said.
