Delivering his speech titled “The Hubris Index” at the STU Commencement Ceremony today, Mr Li Ka-shing quotes Zhuangzi as saying that “A position of sovereign does not necessarily connect with being thought noble, nor the tradition of being poor with being thought mean.  The difference of being thought noble or mean arises from the conduct being good or bad,” and encourages the graduates to always keep a thoughtful mind. In honour of Mr Li’s birthday, STU students sing a special song named “Great Wisdom” for Mr Li at the STU Commencement Ceremony.  Mr Li is extremely touched by this surprise gift.  According to Ms Winnie Yu, who is also attending the ceremony and lecturing the STU students, the new lyrics are written by famous lyricist Albert Leung, with the melody covering “Glorious Years” by Hong Kong rock band Beyond.  “Great Wisdom” encapsulates Mr Li’s culture of giving and commitment to the society as well as his lifelong learning attitude.

Space hero Mr Yang Liwei, as an officiating guest at the STU Commencement Ceremony, greets the graduates with Mr Li, hoping that they will reach apex after apex upon graduation.
Mr Yang Liwei presents a specially designed crystal to Mr Li Ka-shing. The crystal shows an astronaut walking on the moon.  Mr Yang hopes that the dream of Chinese being able to walk on the moon will soon come true after the first Chinese has travelled into the space.

5. Mr Li confers a doctoral degree to one of the graduates at the STU Commencement Ceremony. This year's commencement ceremony sees about 2,200 students obtain their undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral degrees
